Heather Callahan is one of our fantastic 3rd and 4th grade teachers. Here’s where you can find out about all of the happenings in her classroom!
I have an M.A. in elementary education from the University of Phoenix, and a B.A. in English from the University of Northern Colorado. I am a private piano instructor and teach piano lessons in the evenings. I have over thirteen years of experience teaching students in and out of the classroom. I have lived in Parker for over thirteen years with my husband, Ryan, daughter, Naomi, and son, Ben. I was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska from a family of Pioneers to the state.
I started taking piano lessons at the age of seven from an elderly teacher who was taught by a second generation pupil of Franz Joseph Haydn. It was my first piano teacher who taught me the love of music which ignited my lifelong pursuit of the performing arts. In elementary school I started taking private flute, piccolo, and oboe lessons. The performing arts have been such a huge part of my life since my childhood. I played in the National Honor Band where I toured six European countries and played for a former first lady. I was featured on CNN during the European tour. I have played piano for the mayor of Alaska, as well as other government officials.
I am experienced in teaching third and fourth grade students in the general classroom. I have taught all grade levels from preschool up through high school. I love teaching third and fourth grade students and have to admit that they are my favorite grade levels to teach! I am thrilled to be teaching at such a fine school that offers a truly unique opportunity for students that hasn’t existed in Douglas County. I am a passionate educator and teaching is who I am. I love chatting about life in Alaska, music, and everything Colorado! Please feel free to introduce yourself to me! I look forward to getting to know everyone at the wonderful Parker Performing Arts School!
