My name is Laura Gillespie and I am excited beyond words to be part of the PPA staff and the incredible community that surrounds the school.

I began my career in education in1998 in Boise, Idaho. I taught Kindergarten there for many years after graduating from the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho with a BS in Elementary Education K-8.

During the ensuing years, I taught preschool, 2nd grade, kindergarten enrichment and reading intervention.  I received my Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education with an emphasis in reading and environments & programs from Boise State University in Boise, Idaho. I have a total of 18 years experience in the education field.

My teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that children learn most effectively when engaged and empowered by their learning, and the joy that comes with both embracing and encouraging a child’s innate sense of wonder, enthusiasm for discovery, and creativity.  I strive, first and foremost, to create a positive and nurturing classroom environment, strong parent-teacher partnerships and a canvas to create through play, inquiry and exploration.  I love watching the growth and excitement of my students as they blossom into amazing readers and writers.

I have been married to my wonderful husband, Andy, for 18 years and have two amazing children; a daughter named Paige who is 14 and a son, Ty, who is10. We like spending time as a family, biking, skiing, hiking, camping and playing games.  We also have a dog, Ben, who is my son’s Seeing Eye dog and two cats, Yoda and Shadow. In my free time, I enjoy reading, pinning on Pintrest, cooking, going to the gym and doing yoga.
