I graduated from Georgia State University in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. I transitioned into pediatrics, my first love, within a year of my graduation. I worked for Children’s Health Care of Atlanta from 1998 until 2009. I served mostly within the level 1 emergency department as a trauma nurse, then a preceptor and charge nurse. From 2006-2009 I served as house supervisor for the busiest teaching level one pediatric trauma center in the Southeast.
My family and I moved here to Colorado in 2009 from Georgia for my husband’s job. I began working at Children’s Hospital Colorado in the Neurology department as a Clinical Coordinator. I moved to Network of Care in Parker and worked with 15 different sub-specialities attending providers for Children’s Hospital Colorado. Finally, I spent one year with Cherry Creek School District managing over 800 students at a primary school.
I am a ACLS, PALS and BLS (CPR) Instructor. When I was at Children’s Hospital Colorado, I participated on many committees, but most pertinent are the committee that wrote, taught and reviewed emergency and code situations to all staff including providers. I was also invited to participate in an regional ethics seminar. I have my national Certified Pediatric Nurse certification, which I have held for 6 years. I also obtained my Mental Health First Aid Responder Certification last year.
I live in Aurora with my family: my husband and two children. I express my artistic side through my home business of creating soaps and body products. I can spend hours creating soap, and playing with the products that heal the skin and body. I also like to garden, read, and just hang out with my family. I have a secret joy of listening to Jimmy Buffett!
